USAGE:(1.) (2.) Глагол to blame выражает оценку обыденных проступков: to blame smb for coming late (for having broken the cup, for this mistake) винить кого-либо за опоздание (за разбитую чашку, за эту ошибку); to blame the weather винить погоду; don't blame others when you yourself are at fault не вините других, если сами виноваты. (3.) Краткой форме русского прилагательного виноват в функции именной части сказуемого в английском языке соответствует оборот to be at fault: I know I myself am at fault я знаю, что я сам виноват; whose fault is it? чья это вина? /кто виноват?; it is not his fault он в этом не виноват. Сочетания с существительным fault стилистически нейтральны и в обыденной речи употребляются чаще, чем глагол to blame. (4.) Русское прилагательное "виновный", выражающее оценку серьезных проступков, соответствует английскому прилагательному guilty: the court found him guilty of the crime суд признал его виновным в этом преступлении; he must have a guilty conscience у него должно быть нечистая совесть.
